National Floodplain Administrator Training Needs Assessment Survey
FEMA manages the National Flood Insurance Program which includes more than 22,600 Participating Communities. This year, FEMA’s Floodplain Management Division is conducting a survey of the nation’s Floodplain Administrators who manage local floodplains for these jurisdictions. Survey findings will inform a five-year National Floodplain Administrators Training Strategy that will be coordinated by the Floodplain Management Division.

Biden-Harris Administration Urges Public to Prepare as Severe Weather Threatens the East Coast, Pay Attention to Local Officials

FEMA encourages residents and visitors in the path of a developing tropical storm along the southeastern and mid-Atlantic portions of the United States to prepare now and follow the instructions of local officials. Anyone in the forecast path of the storm should monitor local weather alerts for updates.

National Incident Management Assistance Team is Now Hiring

The Field Leadership Directorate, within the Office of Response and Recovery at FEMA, is searching for experienced disaster management leaders for the launch of a new National Incident Management Assistance Team (IMAT) focused on Homeland Security Incidents. This team will be tasked with responding to incidents that fall outside of the authorities of the Stafford Act but require a coordinated federal or DHS response.

President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. Approves Emergency Declaration for North Carolina

FEMA announced that federal emergency aid has been made available to the state of North Carolina to supplement the state, tribal and local response efforts due to emergency conditions resulting from Hurricane Ian beginning Sept. 28 and continuing.
